The "Me Me Me Generation" article brought up many interesting topics about our generation. One interesting idea the article talked about was how most people do not find their true selves until they are around the age of 30. But our generation had already decided what we wanted to do with our lives when were are around 14-15 years old. In high school, teenagers should already know what their plans are for the future, whether they want to go to college straight from high school or head straight into the work field. The article claims that these types of decisions should be made when we become older and more sure of ourselves, but in todays society we are forced to have our entire future set in place when we are teenagers.
Many people of older generations look down on younger generations because they see them as ungrateful and lazy. Younger generations are seen as having a better opportunities and more career options than the older generation which is why the older generation does not understand why most of us have a hard time figuring out our futures. What older generations don't understand is even though a lot of the problems they had are no longer an issue for us, our generation has much different problems we have to face. We are not a generation that is chaotic, unprepared, and lazy, but a generation faced with new problems never seen before and it is us alone that have the ability to navigate these issues and succeed in a world that hadn't existed decades ago. Altogether, the author draws attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the Me Me Me generation to show that they are not perfect, but they have their own struggles which explains how their generation evolved.
